North Beach Master Plan Draft Revealed: What you need to know

On Tuesday, June 7, urban planning agency Dover, Kohl & Partners presented their North Beach master plan draft to a packed room that included residents, community leaders and business owners. Since December 2015, the firm has been diligently collecting data for the study that stretches from the Atlantic Ocean to the Bay and from 63rd Street to 87th Terrace.

Looking Back and Looking Ahead: North Beach Blue Ribbon Panel & New Steering Committee

The City of Miami Beach started the new year by announcing the appointment of the Mayor’s North Beach Master Plan Steering Committee. The group, which had its first meeting on January 5th, will act as an advisor to the master plan consultants. Additionally, the City announced that it would sunset the Mayor’s North Beach Blue Ribbon Panel.

Blueways Master Plan Update

The City of Miami Beach has selected the first location for a public kayak launch site in North Beach! It will be built at Dickens Ave – North of 73rd Street, at Parkview Island Park. This plan is part of a larger initiative called the Blueways Master Plan, which seeks to engage and connect people with the water.

Blueways Master Plan Promises Water Fun For All

Soon tourists and locals will be able to have more fun in the water after the completion of the Miami Beach Blueways Master Plan. Led by the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, the goal is to connect people to water at convenient locations and allow for a variety of aquatic recreational amenities and activities. The plan was created by designers from EDSA, with the city’s and public input, and is tremendous in its scope and depth.

City Presents New Bicycle Master Plan to North Beach Residents

On June 4, 2015, the City of Miami Beach Transportation Planner, Xavier Falconi, presented the new bicycle master plan to North Beach residents at the Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Panel. At the meeting, residents were able to hear firsthand about the plan and make suggestions. In addition to working on this plan, the City is finalizing a transportation master plan to improve overall transportation issues.

“These two plans are being worked on separately but on two parallel tracks,” said Falconi, who has worked for the department for seven years. “These two plans are essentially becoming one and we have gotten positive feedback.”

North Beach Trolley, A Welcomed Relief for Residents

Launched at the end of October 2014, the North Beach loop connects residents and visitors to pharmacies, restaurants, shops, beaches, parks and many other points of interest in the North Beach area. This Free trolley operates Monday through Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to midnight, 365 days of the year. It also provides a connection to regional transit, connecting to seven Miami-Dade Transit routes.
