The City of Miami Beach is hosting a workshop on Monday, November 23 to solicit input from North Beach residents regarding its Master Plan. Dover, Kohl & Partners, the firm selected to complete the plan, will present at the work shop and will be gathering input from attendees to include in the plan.

“It has been a long journey getting to this point; two years of community outreach together with the Mayors Blue Ribbon Panel, City committees, planners and working closely with the city’s director of Economic Development and team,” said President & CEO of the North Beach Property Owners Association, Matis Cohen. “Dover Kohl will be presenting their process to the community for the rezoning of Town Center and the RM-1 district; I urge everyone to participate in this process.”

The hope for the North Beach master plan is to make 71^st street come alive, City of Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine has been quoted saying. He also hopes to attract investment but protect historic structures.

Levine says no one wants North Beach to be different and compliment South Beach. He hopes to create a “cool” vibe in the area, which has begun with the inclusion of places like O Cinema.

“North Beach is going to be the successful sister of South Beach, with a different personality,” Levine said. “A little more local, a little more low-key, and we’d like to see it become a more creative destination.”
