In addition to these traditional summer camps, Miami Beach Parks & Recreation has also arranged a series of specialty camps. Do you have a talented dancer in the family? North Shore Youth Center will be holding a specialty dance camp focusing on ballet, jazz, tap and contemporary. The facility will also play host to a mad scientist camp filled with fun activities centered around physics, space, biology, chemistry, and more.

How about some relaxation for the kids? After all, this is their summer break! The yoga, tai chi, and art camp might be the right answer. Priority is placed on creating a fun and education experience through yoga and tai chi along with mindfulness activities, relaxation and time with the outdoors.

Perhaps you’re looking for something closer to the water. If that’s the case, then the kayak camp might be the perfect fit for your child. A variety of paddling skills will be taught – all students must pass a swimming test. Register for these specialized camps here.

While we’re on the subject of swimming – how confident is your child in the water? Swimming lessons are a very important and often over looked activity. This is especially so here in South Florida, where beach trips or a day at the pool are a common weekend activity. Ages as young as six months old can take classes; it’s really never too early to get them started. Their team of talented and friendly instructors will have your kids feeling safe and having fun in the water in no time.
